Identifying and Treating Betrayal Trauma, Infidelity, and Problematic Sexual Behaviors, Section 4 of 4

CE Hours 3

About this course

Section 4 is the final section of Identifying and Treating Betrayal Trauma, Infidelity, and Problematic Sexual Behaviors. In this section, we focus on the essential elements of late recovery, including empathy, healthy sexuality, and the healing of sexual trauma. Together, we’ll explore how to redefine language, create emotional and physical safety, and rebuild intimacy within the context of a healthy and respectful partnership. This section highlights the importance of self-exploration and self-image, as well as how boundaries, trust, and connection are foundational to fostering healthy sexual dynamics. You’ll also learn practical tools and frameworks to guide your clients through these complex yet transformative processes. If you have any questions, please reach out for support.

Learning Objectives

  • Define betrayal through the lens of relational contracts, and illustrate how violations of explicit and implicit agreements impact trust and attachment.
  • Select and implement at least two clinical tools or strategies designed to help clients begin rebuilding trust in relationships following betrayal.
  • Identify and apply specific steps to connect individual healing work with relational recovery for both betrayers and partners across all phases of the recovery process.
  • Explain and integrate core components of healthy sexuality into the therapeutic process for clients recovering from Problematic Sexual Behavior (PSB) and Betrayal Trauma (BT).
